Troubleshooting
Typical symptoms, possible causes and practical checks for industrial clutches and brakes.
| Symptom | Possible cause | Recommended action |
|---|---|---|
| Brake slipping | Insufficient torque, worn friction surface, contamination, incorrect voltage or air gap. | Check load torque, supply voltage, mounting, friction surfaces and air gap. Request sizing support if load data is unclear. |
| Clutch not engaging | No coil excitation, wiring issue, wrong voltage, excessive air gap or mechanical obstruction. | Verify voltage, coil resistance, wiring, connector condition, air gap and armature movement. |
| Overheating | Duty cycle too high, excessive slip energy, insufficient cooling or undersized unit. | Review cycle rate, slip time, inertia, thermal load and cooling. Consider larger model or forced cooling. |
| Low torque | Incorrect model size, voltage drop, worn components, oil/dust contamination or misalignment. | Confirm model selection, actual operating voltage, alignment and surface condition. Clean or replace worn parts if required. |
| Noise / vibration | Misalignment, bearing wear, uneven engagement, loose mounting or resonance. | Check shaft alignment, bearing condition, mounting bolts, backlash and machine resonance. |
| Coil failure | Incorrect voltage, overheating, damaged cable, moisture ingress or electrical overload. | Measure coil resistance, inspect cables and connectors, confirm voltage and protect against heat/moisture. |
